Our Aim

At its core the club strives first and foremost to teach children to swim in an enjoyable, safe and inclusive environment, teaching children excellent technique, and striving to help each child to be the best swimmer they can be.

Our History

Kinvara Swimming Club was set up in 1968 by a number of far-sighted individuals who realised the importance of developing the skills of swimming and lifesaving among the young people of the area. Among those who were instrumental in setting up the club were Stan Mac Eoin, May Monahan, Donal Barry, Toddy Byrne and Paddy Geraghty. Today, several grandchildren of these founder members are involved with the club. In the 50 years plus of its existence the club has taught thousands of children to swim and has produced a great number of lifeguards, who have been so important in keeping our beaches, pools and waterways safe, and have saved countless lives over the years. Kinvara Swimming Club is affiliated to Water Safety Ireland and has always been run by dedicated volunteers who have committed their time and energy to bringing the club to where we are today.
