Felim MacEoin

Where did you learn to swim?
I learned to swim in KSC, taught mostly by Helen, Bridie, Rose and Stan. I grew up close to Croshua so spent my summers swimming there. 

Why did you become a teacher with KSC?
I got my senior lifeguard training from KSC in 1995 and was a lifeguard at Bishops Quarter that summer. I remember that the pay was fantastic, way more than what my friends were making filling petrol!

Any other interesting swimming related facts/ achievements about you?
Open water swimming is my biggest thrill and I compete in an open water swimming competition in Salthill over the summer called the Heskin League. I love the freedom of open water swimming and the fact that it is free and on our doorstep. We are truly spoilt with great locations for sea swimming around Kinvara. Swimming is something I hope I can impart on the younger generations as it is a lifelong sport where friendships are made, and good health is promoted.

Where did you learn to swim?
Learnt to swim in Surrey in the UK where I was born, my mum was the driving force… she was a non-swimmer herself and wanted to make sure we weren’t too.

Why did you become a teacher with KSC?
I love swimming and we are so close to the sea, I wanted to help kids enjoy it safely.

Any other interesting swimming related facts/ achievements about you?
Loved swimming in Community Games in the relays! Great fun.

Where did you learn to swim?
I learnt to swim (a bit) as a young teenager in Ballyshannon swimming pool in Donegal and then as an adult I did 2 terms in Fiona’s swim school 

Why did you become a teacher with KSC?
I became a teacher to learn more about swimming and also to teach other children to swim which is an opportunity I didn’t have when I was a child 

Any other interesting swimming related facts/ achievements about you?
Since starting with KSC I have become much braver doing water activities while on holidays such as water slides etc and Katie and Alex are delighted
