Where did you learn to swim?
I learned to swim as a child in Ballinasloe swimming pool and then as a teenager completed water safety courses in Loughrea lake. We spent our summers at the lake.
Why did you become a teacher with KSC?
I became a teacher with KSC to get my children swimming more and also enjoying it with their friends. For children living beside the sea it’s a life skill. I wanted them to be able to safely join in at the beach and pier jumping.
Any other interesting swimming related facts/ achievements about you?
I first did my swimming teachers and bronze medallion lifeguard exams in college and taught while there.
Niamh Kavanagh
Where did you learn to swim?
I spent part of my early childhood living in Portugal, where I learnt how to swim under sunny skies. Upon returning to Kinvara, I continued to develop my swimming skills as a member of the Kinvara Swimming Club.
Why did you become a teacher with KSC?
I became a swimming teacher as a way to give back to the club that had served me so well. Swimming is a crucial skill for our children, and Kinvara Swimming Club provides an incredible opportunity for them to develop these essential skills.
Any other interesting swimming related facts/ achievements about you?
As a member of Kinvara swimming club I qualified as a lifeguard in my teenage years.

Where did you learn to swim?
I started swimming when I was 18 in classes then swam as part of a master’s club in Galway for a few years
Why did you become a teacher with KSC?
It is great to be able to pass on an important skill to kids

Jumped off O’Brien’s bridge…do not recommend
